While it’s true that Warlocks forfeit the rapid riposte characteristic of Fighters, the compensation lies in the substantial boost to burst DPS granted by the Warlock’s synergistic combination of Soul Collector, Dark Reflection, and Blow of Corruption (BoC).

In the realm of 1v1 encounters, Rogues pose a unique challenge. As a Warlock, however, they transform from potential assassins to essentially one-shot victims. The added benefit of heightened movement speed further diminishes their ability to kite, creating a significant advantage in Warlock’s favor.

A subtle advantage of choosing Warlock for the longsword lies in the ease of building health points (HP). Surprisingly, it proves to be a simpler task than on the Fighter class. Equipping gear with innate vigor on every slot easily yields a substantial +15 vigor, rendering the Warlock reasonably tanky.

For enthusiasts of the longsword, the choice between Fighter and Warlock is paramount. Let’s delve into specific matchups to assess the advantages each class brings to the table:

Rogue

Fighter: Leverages the close combat prowess to engage in melee exchanges.

Fighter: Targets the predictable weapon patterns, aiming for ripostes and employing kiting strategies.

Warlock: Leverages predictive tactics, focusing on ripostes while employing kiting maneuvers for a favorable outcome.

Cleric

Fighter: Closes the gap swiftly, minimizing the Cleric’s freedom to cast spells.

Warlock: Ensures the Cleric doesn’t cast spells with strategic strikes, maintaining control of the engagement.

Bard

Note: The absence of Bard encounters complicates a comprehensive analysis, warranting further observation.

In essence, adopting a Warlock’s approach to the longsword, particularly in 1v1 situations, offers a distinct set of advantages. The synergy between Warlock abilities and the longsword’s mechanics appears to create a robust and versatile combatant.
